Have You Ever Heard of The Equation '5-2=0' in Reference to Losing Weight?
It was written by a chap called Tom Venuto in (what has become my go-to guide for weight loss), his book, 'Burn The Fat, Fuel The Muscle'.
The equation refers to the 5 working days of the week. We eat within a calorie deficit, train hard and stay focused... Gradually moving us towards our weight loss goals.
Then the weekend hits. The 2 in the equation refers to the two days of the weekend. We drink, over-eat, indulge in sweets foods because, well, it's the weekend. By Monday we have put all the weight back on (which we lost from our 5 healthy days) and we are back to where we were before having achieved 0.
This is one of the keys reasons people who are 'trying' to lose weight, don't.
How You Can Stay Accountable
Within my brand new Facebook Group, I have (at the time of writing this blog post) I have just set up a new, four week Habit Changing Challenge. I thought the concept of 5-2=0 was especially relevant to my Group, especially as the Groups weekly task is to reduce 'unnecessary' calories and today happens to be a Saturday. I then thought you could use this information too, to help keep you focused.
Stay On Track
If you have worked hard at cutting down on unnecessary foods and feel you have done well this week, please don't spoil that effort by sabotaging your progress simply because it's the end of the week. You deserve better. You deserve to achieve your goals and to feel good. I promise you, this evenings treats won't be as good as the feeling of achievement after a few weeks of eating well, reducing calories and training hard. Not only will you FEEL the difference, you will SEE the difference... IF you don't sabotage yourself each week in the process.
Burn Fat & Feed Your Muscle
If you would like to learn more about the correct way to exercise and reduce body fat, you can pick up Tom Venutos book, 'Burn The Fat, Fuel The Muscle' on Amazon from my link.
It is a fantastic read and explains how to lose weight and reduce body fat through interesting stories, metaphors and Tom's own personal experiences as an athlete and trainer. I love it and can't recommend it enough. If you buy it using my link, it also helps support my business in the process at no extra cost to you. Enjoy!
